Valletta stays open until six in the morning on Saturday. If you are eating before or after, here is the plan.
Notte Bianca falls on Saturday 3 October this year — Valletta open from six in the evening until six in the morning, museums and palaces unlocked, the streets full until it gets light.
It is one of the best nights of the Maltese year, and it comes with a practical problem: everybody eats at the same time.
Eat first, or eat properly after
Valletta's kitchens are overwhelmed by eight. The workable plan is dinner in St Julian's first and the ferry or a cab across, or the reverse — come back over when the crowd thins and eat late here, because our kitchen runs to a quarter to midnight regardless of what the rest of the island is doing.
Either way, book. Notte Bianca weekend fills the room early and keeps it full.
Twelve hours of Valletta is a lot to do on an empty stomach.
